Is it possible that the seven year cycle that seems to drive the US stock market and the rise and fall of nations in the last hundred years is the same cycle of the Old Testament given by God?

The seven year cycle of the Old Testament mandates that every seven years the land must rest. Leviticus 25:1-6 says the seventh year will be a Sabbath, solemn year (the Shemitah). The people were told not to plant or harvest anything in the land. It was to remind the people that all they had and all blessings came from God.

The book and DVD “The Mystery of the Shemitah” give insight into this. Jonathan Cahn wrote this New York Times bestseller.

Deuteronomy 15:1-2 says debts shall be released on the 29^th of Elul (the Jewish month of Elul) on this year.

Shemitah defined

Shemitah can mean several different things. It meant release of debts, but it also means blessing and judgement. The city of Jerusalem was destroyed, and the Jews were taken into captivity by Babylon on the Shemitah. Jeremiah was told the judgement would last 70 years. This was one year for every Shemitah year that the Jewish people had strayed from God.

So the Shemitah could determine a nations existence or lack of it—the rise and fall of nations.

What would this look like in modern times? It turns out that recessions, depressions and stock market drops follow the seven year cycle of the Shemitah. In the past 40 years every single financial turning point followed this seven year cycle. Not just one but every single year of financial drop was a year of Shemitah. So what happened during these years?

1994: During Shemitah of ‘94, the bond market collapsed. The great bond market massacre of 1994. It was the biggest bond collapse in US history. Not only that, $1.5 trillion was lost worldwide.

1930-1931 The great depression was the year of Biblical Shemitah. The Tishri is the most sacred of Hebrew months. Shemitah begins and ends with month of Tishri. For ages financial analysts could not explain why so much happened in autumn. September to October is the month of Tishri. This was the secret to the financial happenings.

The Rise and Fall of Nations

Shemitah can also mean release, shaking, fall, and collapse. The kingdom of Judah was wiped out during this special time.

1917 was a year of Shemitah. One of oldest empires collapsed that year– Russia. The US Entered WWI in 1917. Three more empires collapsed, the German Empire, the Austro-Hungarian and the Ottoman-Turkish Empire.

This year marked the rise of US becoming a superpower. Britain was deeply in debt to the US due to the war and because of this the financial center of the world departs London and switches to New York.

1938 (Shemitah year) was when Germany began taking over Austria and Czechoslovakia. Japan signed the surrender document Sept 2, 1945 which was a Shemitah year. Sept 7 was when parades celebrated the victory. That is the Jewish month and date of Elul 29 and that is the day that ends the 7 year cycle.

America had became a superpower but in 1973 the US legalized abortion. That same month began long term financial collapse. That same year, a Shemitah year, the US lost the war in Vietnam on August 15^th. It suffered its first defeat on the exact same month and day of victory in WWII– August 15, 1945. Japan surrendered on that date.

From 1973, move forward 4 Shemitahs to 2001, the fall of the twin towers in New York City. The 2001 Shemitah, in the last week, brought in 9-11. The fall of the twin towers happened on a Shemitah. Shemitah can mean fall or collapse. That is what the towers did, and to a certain extent, so did the US economy.

In 1945 the World Trade Center was conceived, the idea for building it was first planned. Construction began in 1966 a Shemitah. It took seven years to complete. It was finished and dedicated 1973, another Shemitah year. In the year of Shemtiah 2001 it was destroyed. Just as Shemitah can mean fall, the towers fell to the earth. So is it possible that in that year of 1945 the symbol of US financial power was born, and on 2001 the symbol died?

A nations blessing come from God alone. If a nation drives God out, the blessings will be removed.

The most amazing events

1917 was a Shemitah year, 1918 was year of Jubilee. In the Old Testament, the year of Jubilee was a time of giving back the land to the rightful owners. It was the time of freeing slaves. You can read more about it in the Old Testament, or just Google it. Jubilee happens at the end of every 7^th Shemitah year, in other words at the end of 49 years. So what happened in this 1918 Jubilee? The Ottoman Empire was crumbling and gave up control of the land of Israel which they held for over 400 years. Great Britain signed the Balfour Declaration stating the land would be restored to the Jewish people (November 1917) It was the first time in 2000 years that the Jewish people got their land back. What a year of Jubilee it was for the Jewish people!

Ok, so go one more Jubilee later, which would land in the years 1966 and 1967 of our calendar. Remember, all these dates are according to the Jewish calendar, not ours. What significant thing happened during those two years? By ancient Bible prophecy, the Jewish people must be restored not only to their homeland, but also to the holy city of Jerusalem.  In the midst of the Six Day War, the Israeli solders entered Jerusalem and wept at the holiest wall. This was the seventh Shemitah, the Jubilee. They regained their long lost possession on the Jubilee.

The next Shemitah will be September 2015 to September 2016. What will happen? We don’t know, maybe nothing. But if this trend continues, it may bring about war in the Middle East, a war in Israel and a war that brings about prophetic restoration.
