Back in the days when there was an East Germany, they were world famous for having the largest number of Olympic gold medals per capita. How did they do it? They did it by teaching the power of faith to their athletes. They were trained to really believe they could win the gold medal. The more a person believes something, the harder they will work for it. They used visualization to produce strong faith. I love it when atheists validate some ideas in the Bible.
If you want to be successful at anything, study successful people. Henry Ford was incredibly successful. He was famous for saying “Whether you think you can, or think you can’t, either way you are right.” That means if you believe you can do it you can. If you have faith, you can do it.
Jesus said the same thing over and over and over about faith. Matthew 17:20 He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
He used the word “mountain” the way it was used in the Old Testament. A city on a mountain was a stronghold. If it was an enemy city, it was a bad stronghold, like an addiction, bad habit or difficulty. A mountain-top city that was friendly was a good stronghold.
What Jesus was saying was that if you speak to the problem and you have faith you can accomplish anything. The power of the spoken word was first demonstrated when God spoke the world into existence. Proverbs 18:21 says that ultimate power is in the tongue, in the words you say. The power of life and death is the most ultimate power in the mind of the writers of that day.
If you don’t get good results from your prayers, try speaking out loud to the problem. For example, “In Jesus name I am healed!” That is how Jesus taught all his followers to do it. (See Acts 3:6)
There are many other verses in the Bible that explain the power of the spoken word. Feel free to research it. You can google these ideas.
