Maybe you have been working on a relationship for several years and it looks like it just won’t get any better. Perhaps a child is going the wrong direction in life or ignoring you. Maybe your spouse doesn’t understand you and causes you grief. Or maybe you are working on a promotion at work and it just seems to be impossible to get it.
Don’t give up, but learn to enjoy life while striving for your goal.
I remember a lady telling me that her husband had ideas for a number of different businesses to start here in the USA. He would start one business and if it didn’t do well after a couple of years he would move on to something else. She said he didn’t have the patience to stick with something until it was successful. The average new business takes five years before it becomes profitable.
If you have friends who seem to have a knack for solving relationship problems or career challenges, maybe you feel unlucky, like you are just not blessed in life. But when you compare yourself with what someone claims they have (maybe their claims are overstated) you often get discouraged.
To those of you reading this who have goals and dreams in life that just don’t seem to be possible, just remember, Jesus said that with faith all things are possible. Not only Jesus, but many other successful people said the same thing.
Don’t give up, you will make it.
Abraham Lincoln failed many, many times before becoming president of the United States. Many consider him our best president. Winston Churchill also failed many times and struggled with depression almost constantly before becoming the outstanding leader who guided Great Briton through one of their most dangerous times in history.
When discouraged, there are many things that can get you feeling better. Read or listen to encouraging, motivational books and sermons. Take a walk. It is amazing how much better a person feels after exercise because it releases the “feel-good” chemicals into the bloodstream.
Count your blessings.
Gratitude not only helps you make it through the day with a happier mindset, it also makes you stronger and it certainly makes your prayers more effective. Gratitude is one of the key faith lifters, and Jesus said many times that faith is a key to answered prayer.
So if it seems that God is not listening to you, don’t give up. Remember, he loves you more than you love yourself and he is always looking out for you.
Remember, the people Moses led to the Promised Land had to fight sword to sword with giants (or more correctly, they thought they would have to) and you probably never will fight a giant. However, you may have to fight against your impatience. It may take longer than you expect to see success.
