Maybe you get every one of your prayers answered and you don’t need to learn any Biblical principles to improve your prayer power. If that is true for you, quit reading now. If you would like to learn how to have more prayer power, keep reading.
Of course we know that the main reason to pray is to get close to God. But the Bible tells us to ask God for things. See 1 Timothy 2:1.
There are several keys to powerful prayer in Matthew. Jesus’ followers asked him why they couldn’t accomplish a task. Matthew 17:20. He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
Notice Jesus said “nothing will be impossible for you.” Do you believe it? Henry Ford and many others said basically the same thing. Ford said “Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, either way you are right.”
A mountain might mean a stronghold. In the Old Testament it sometimes meant a difficulty, as we use the word today “Don’t make a mountain out of a molehill.”
What strongholds do you deal with in your life? Maybe you want to have better relationships, lose weight, get out of debt, excel at your career, quit an addiction or any number of things. Any of these strongholds can be overcome through prayer, relying on God and determination.
Dozens of times Jesus said that the key to answered prayer is faith. But it seems that very few people know how to increase their faith. This will tell you how to increase your faith so that you will have powerful prayers. If you do this, the Bible promises you that you will see amazing answers to prayers.
The disciples were with Jesus 24/7 for almost 3 years, so they saw hundreds of miracles. In fact one gospel writer said that Jesus performed so many miracles John 21:25 “If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.” That is not to be taken literally, of course. But it does mean that Jesus’ followers probably saw many miracles every day. That in itself would strengthen their faith tremendously.
To increase your faith do this: FAITH
F = Find a Bible verse, a promise to stand on.
A = Ask in faith.
I = Imagine that God has already given you what you asked for. See it in your mind.
T = Thank God for it. This is very important. Gratitude builds your faith.
H = Hold on, be Happy. You may not get the answer right away. You may have to hold on for awhile, but be happy while you wait. It makes your prayers stronger and it is God’s will for you. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 “…give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
