You really can be successful
You can break any bad habit, improve any relationship, excel at a career, improve your finances, achieve any godly goal. Does that sound impossible? Remember, Henry Ford said that if you believe you can, you can, if you believe you can’t, you can’t.
Before Arnold Schwarzenegger became famous he was interviewed by Steve Chandler who wrote the book 100 Ways to Motivate Yourself. Chandler asked him this question:
“Now that you have retired from body building, what are you going to do next?”
With a voice as calm as if he were talking about some mundane travel plans he said “I’m going to be the number one box office movie star in all of Hollywood.”
Chandler tried not to show his shock and amusement at this plan, after all his first attempt at movies didn’t promise much. His awkward accent and monstrous frame didn’t seem like Hollywood material. The movie he was promoting, Stay Hungry, was a big box office failure.
”They won because they refused to become discouraged by their defeats.” Forbes
Schwarzenegger went on. “It’s the same process I used in body building” he explained. “What you do is create a vision of who you want to be and then live into that picture as if it is already true.”
Create your own vision
Create a vision, don’t wait until you receive a vision.
Tell a true lie. Some school children were told to make up a poem to brag about themselves. They were to say what they would love to come true in their lives. What would they do if they knew they could not fail? This is actually a faith building exercise. It is what Arnold was doing. It is the same advice that the prophet Joel gave in Joel chapter 3—Let the weak say “I am strong.”
Seems dishonest in a way doesn’t it? But it is what all the super successful people say to do. Almost all of them say that is how they reached high levels of success. It is what all the trainers tell their top athletes to do, the psychologists tell their patients and business leaders to do. It is what the success coaches tell their mentors to do. It is the same thing many of the top teachers and religious leaders tell us to do.
Faith is the key
It all starts with faith, the belief that you really can achieve your goals and dreams in life. Jesus said “According to your faith it will be done to you.” Matthew 9:29. The important thing is to build your faith. It is not easy to do and it takes time. I wrote a book about how to build faith. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B008EOCODK
Are you seeking health in the New Year? Jesus told the woman who had been bleeding for 12 years that her faith healed her- Matthew 9:22. More than two dozen times, Jesus said that faith is the key to answered prayer. It is the key to bringing about the life of your dreams.
The Law of Attraction says that whatever you feel good about, you bring about into your life. What you think about with good feelings you bring about. The opposite is true. If you worry or feel bitter or angry, resentful or unhappy about things, and you spend time thinking about and feeling these thoughts, you will bring more negative thoughts into your mind and bad things into your life.
Jesus said that the Holy Spirit flows down to you and through you if you believe, John 7:38. That means love, wellbeing and power flow to you. They flow to you in abundance if you get under the faucet of God’s love. Paul said that the love of God flows to you in Romans 5:5.
You get under the faucet of God’s love by thinking positive thoughts, not negative. All happiness comes from love- loving and enjoying people, places or things. All sadness is the absence of love. The Law of Attraction is the Law of Love. Don’t spend time thinking about things you don’t love because that is negative. Stay positive. Optimism is almost the same as faith.
Many times we work and pray and don’t see results. But just remember, Luke 18:1 “Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.” Winston Churchill said “Never, never, never give up.” It took the apostles 3 years of full time work with Jesus to learn the power of prayer. Don’t expect it to happen overnight.
