This story has a powerful moral that will make your life better if you think about it and put it into practice every day.

Tasty Food Abundance in Healthy Europe

“Many of life’s failures were people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.” ~Thomas Edison

Many years ago a man from Europe took a ship to the United States. He had planned this trip for years and saved every penny he could for the boat ticket. His relatives were proud of him because he had worked so hard to make a better life for himself.

Day after day on the ship, while the other passengers were going into the cafeteria he would sit and eat cheese and crackers because that was what he had the money to buy for the trip and they were items that didn’t spoil. But as the weeks wore on, he became rather despondent. He felt sad that he had to eat this same food every day, while the other passengers at the declivous food in the cafeteria. He could smell the wonderful smell of the different foods each day and it made him long for even just a taste of it.

Finally one day a man from the same country he was from came up to him and spoke in his native language. “Why are you sitting out here eating that tasteless food when you could be in here enjoying the food with us?”

The man hung his head and said “I don’t have the money for this food. It took all my savings to buy the ticket.”

His compatriot replied “The cost of the meals is included in the price of the ticket! You can eat this food with us every day.”

The man was shocked. He had been eating the plain, flavorless food when he could have been enjoying the better food with his friends. He quickly went into the cafeteria, sat down with his compatriot and they enjoyed a meal together.

You and I are the same as that man. We trudge through life without enjoying many of the things we could be enjoying because we think we don’t have the right stuff to have the blessings we want.

Many intelligent people drop out of college because they fail one or two tests and conclude that they are not smart enough to make it

Many young men quit courting the woman of their dreams because she told them she wasn’t interested and they gave up on her.

Many people get mad at the company they work for and change jobs just when they were near success.

Many give up on relationships too early.

Many of the most successful people have said that faith (confidence, positive mental attitude, positive thinking, whatever you want to call it) is important to achieving your goals and dreams in life.

The man who started Walmart (he would be the richest man in the world if he was still alive) Sam Walton said “It is amazing what a person can accomplish if they believe in themselves.”

Jesus said basically the same thing. More than a dozen times he talked about the importance of faith.

“If you have faith the size of a mustard seed you can tell a mountain to move, and it will. NOTHING will be impossible for you.” Matthew 17:20

Also, many people don’t get what they want because they don’t ask. Just think what would have happened if the man in the story asked about the food. He would have found out it was already paid for! Don’t be afraid to ask. Just think about the possiblities!

    James 4:2
Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.
